With a wax melter: Some people like to use a wax melter/crockpot to melt large amounts of wax.I couldn’t possibly write about all of the different ways to do wax play in just one post, but I can break down the basics. I discovered my kink for wax when I was pretty young, I found that I really enjoyed the sensation of dripping the wax on me after I blew out a candle, and I just loved candles in general. For someone who is curious about sensation play, I think that wax play is safe and easy to learn. The feeling of wax dripping on your skin is very unique and fun. What is wax play like, why would you want to do it? Or a rope photo where there are tapered candles tucked into the wraps. Why would you want to do wax play? If you have spent any time cruising Fetlife or other kink websites, you may have seen beautiful photos of a girl with a candle perched on her bum, the wax dripping down her skin. Wax Play: The Why Photo: Ashley Love Model I wanted to share this information somewhere a little more digestible and easy to find than just various forums on Fetlife (not knocking the groups on FL, they are also great resources). I spent a lot of time on Fetlife forums reading all I possibly could about different roles, types of play and the ethics of kink. Kink has a pretty big vocabulary, and a steep learning curve. I remember when I first got involved in the social scene and realized that there was SO much information to learn. If you gently oiled any body hair, you should be able to comb thru and remove the wax residue.Hello and welcome to my new post series: Kinky crash course! I have been in the kink scene for a little while now, and I get a lot of ‘how to get started’ questions. You can use a thin plastic card, such as a credit card, to remove any residue. If you’ve properly prepped the skin the wax should easily peel off.Wax Play should end with a massage of aloe vera or sunburn cream to help soothe the skin. Both partners should enjoy cuddling, soft touches, and words of praise & affirmation. After any scene, there should be an element of aftercare.Tap the hardened wax in those sensitive spots. You can run ice cubes over still warm wax.Use your fingertips to add warm wax to strategic places.Use glow-in-the-dark or neon wax with a black light. Allow your partner to watch in a mirror to enjoy the patterns and colors. Get creative with shapes and patterns. You can control the wax volume and temperature by putting the candles into a glass jar and melting them in a water bath, crockpot, or candle warmer.Just be mindful of the wax temperature, it could easily be too hot. This will create more of a splashing sensation. Others may prefer to let the candle burn awhile, allowing the wax to pool and create a larger volume of melted wax.A slow drip.drip…drip can create a sense of anticipation and allow your partner to ease into the scene. This can happen from any height, so it’s important to go slowly, be vigilant, and use the correct materials. The real danger of pouring is when a piece of wax that’s on fire or very hot falls onto the skin and burns it.Avoid getting closer than six inches away from the skin unless you’re okay with the risk of burns.Avoid splashing by controlling the height from which you drip the wax.Be mindful of using oils and wax on sensitive areas such as the face, genitals, etc.Or after wax play is a perfect time for aftercare, such as a slow, gentle massage. And before the scene, the oil can be used for a nice warmup massage. Prepping the skin with a very light application of skin or baby oil will make cooled and hardened wax easily peel off the skin. A light application of oil will make removal easier. Cooled and hardened wax is hard to remove from body hair, lol.The flame can heat the glass and burn you, or possibly shatter it. Make sure that you blow out the flame before dripping/pouring the wax.
